On Tuesday, July 22, 2025, the participants of the Congress gathered to hear the announcement of the MCA prizes for 2025. Present on the stage were Dr. Kathi Kern, Vice-Provost for Educational Innovation for the University of Miami, Dr. Jacques Hurtubise of McGill University, member of the Executive Committee of the Math Council of the Americas, Dr. Susan Friedlander of USC, Chair of the Executive Committee of the Math Council of the Americas, Dr. Marcelo Viana of IMPA, Treasurer of the Math Council, Dr. Betsy Stovall of the University of Wisconsin and AMS Secretary for MCA 2025, Dr. Gabriela Araujo of UNAM and President of the Mexican Mathematical Society, and Dr. Carolina Araujo of IMPA.
Drs. Hurtubise, Friedlander and Viana read citations for the awardees and Drs. Stovall, G. Araujo, and C. Araujo made the presentations.
The ceremony began with a warm welcome by Dr. Kern on behalf of the University of Miami.
The Awards were then announced.
Americas Prize Winners
The Americas Prize is awarded to an individual or a group in recognition of their work to enhance collaboration and the development of research that links mathematicians in several countries in the Americas. If one individual is selected it comes a $10,000 cash. If it is shared by two people, $5,000.
The 2025 prize was shared by Pablo Ferrari of the University of Buenos Aires and the late Maria Soares Ruas of the University of Sao Paulo.

Lefschetz Medal Winners
Two Lefschetz Medals are given to mathematicians in recognition of their excellence in research and their contributions to the development of mathematics in a country or countries in the Americas. Each is awarded $5,000.
The recipients for 2025 are Alicia Dickenstein of the University of Buenos Aires and Tatiana Toro of the Simons Laufer Mathematical Institute and the University of Washington.

Mathematical Congress of the Americas Prize Winners
The MCA Prize is awarded to mathematicians, no more than 12-year post PHD, who either did graduate training at an institution or institutions in the Americas or currently holds a position in one or more countries of the Americas. The prizes come with a $1000 award.
